Liebster Award

I have been meaning to do this post for quite a while now and just haven't gotten around to it. So, when I wanted to blog tonight but hadn't taken any pictures I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to do a little writing!

The Liebster Award is a fun little award bloggers pass on to other bloggers with less than 200 followers. It spotlights bloggers, promotes blogs that you might not have heard of, and it's a fun way to get to know the person behind the blog. I was nominated by my sister Wendy along with some of my other blogger friends (Meghan, Bethany, and Ainslee...take a look at their blogs for some great fashion inspo!!) When you are nominated you answer some questions about yourself, nominate other bloggers, and pass on the award. I have seen a few different sets of questions so I sort of created my own set of questions, based on the ones that I wanted to answer the most. Hopefully that's not cheating...

1. What was your first job?
My first job was at Subway, yes, I was a sandwich artist. It was a position that required creativity and skill. Ha, just kidding! I made sandwiches, did dishes, and ate "broken chocolate chip cookies" pretty much every single day! I started when I was 16 and all during my senior year of high school. Even though it wasn't much, earning my own money that I could use to go out to dinner, buy my own clothes, and even my own cell phone was a pretty big deal. I will definitely make my kids get a job while they're in high school, I think it will be a great way to prepare them for college and to teach them how to balance their schedule.

2. What's in your makeup bag?
Concealer, mascara, eyelash curler, brow brush, eye shadow for filling in my brows, lipstick, and lip gloss. I used to wear a ton more makeup all through college, I'm talking primer, foundation, powder, brush, bronzer, setting powder, the works! Since then, my skin has improved so I don't feel like I need to wear as much makeup. I've also gained confidence and finally feel comfortable in my own skin.

3. What are your guilty pleasures?
Reality TV, magazines, shopping, Dr. Pepper, chocolate chip cookies...I'll stop there.

4. What are your favorite TV shows?
As mentioned above I'm all about reality TV and other trashy shows so here they are:

Pretty Little Liars (you know you wanna watch this one!)

Revenge

The Bachelor/Bachelorette

Teen Mom

Nashville

Keeping Up with the Kardashians (whether they're in NY, Miami, or LA)

Lifetime movies

Law and Order

Parenthood (this one isn't trashy!)

5. Who are your style icons?

I have a few: Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port, Olivia Palermo, Blake Lively, Elizabeth Olsen, Ashley Madekwe. Basically if you were on the Hills or the City, you're probably one of my style icons.

6. Do you prefer going to classes or doing your own routine?

Definitely doing my own routine! I like going at my own pace and doing different things or adding extra exercises. It's kind of like shopping, doing it with someone else is fun but doing it by myself is a lot more productive because I can do exactly what I want to. I love running and doing the Tone It Up videos.

7. What's your favorite season and why?

Summer, duh!!! I seriously love summer which is probably why I want to move back to CA so badly. I love laying out by the pool, eating outside, going on walks at night, having the window rolled down while driving, getting snow cones, wearing sun dresses...I could go on forever.

8. Where would you go on your dream vacation?

Europe, hands down! I want to go to Italy, France, and Greece one day. I also want to go on a fun tropical vacation (Mexico or Hawaii would be a dream) with my husband, preferably some time before we have kids...if ya know what I mean!

9. What are your wardrobe staples?

Pencil skirts, comfy tees, nude pumps, striped shirts, dark jeans. And I'm pretty sure the white blazer I just bought will definitely become a staple!

10. What do you want to add to your closet?

Color! I basically want to add more colorful pieces to my closet for example: a pink blazer, yellow pumps, green pants. I'm also looking to add more purses and dresses! 

11. What got you into blogging?

I have been reading style blogs since 2010 which is around when they started to get more popular. I started reading The Daybook way back when Sydney only had a few thousand followers. It was such great inspiration and made me want to take more fashion risks (I'm talking about her different ways to tie a belt and the whole knee socks with boots thing, it was revolutionary!) I started to read more fashion blogs and there are a handful of blogs where I have read every single post. Anyways, after reading so many blogs I have always wanted to start one. After getting married last year, I decided that it would be fun to start a family blog. Well, that family blog kind of turned into my personal fashion blog. I finally had someone to take pictures of me and help me design my blog, thanks Matty you're the best!! And I finally felt brave enough to start sharing my outfits with others because it can be so scary and intimidating. When I started I had no clue that I would gain followers, make connections and friendships with other bloggers, and love sharing my take on fashion with others. I know my blog is small and still growing but just getting this far has been such an accomplishment for me!

12. What is your favorite part about blogging?

Making new friends, coming across blogs that inspire me, and finding out about great deals/pieces that I have to get!!

Well, enough about me! I hope you got to know me a little bit better. I would have never thought that people would actually follow and like my blog, leave such nice comments, and become friends. Seriously, you guys are really the best and every single comment means so much to me, so thank you!
